About

Matthew Daintrey-Hall (he/him) is a writer, lecturer, and educator, specialising in Film and Media Studies. He lives in Nairobi, Kenya where he runs Unseen Gems rooftop film club. He is currently working on his debut novel THE INTENSIFIED SKY.

CITY OF SMILES

Published in the debut issue of Panel Magazine, short story CITY OF SMILES is a dark fantasy about identity and fame, inspired by a ‘real’ newspaper story about a school in 1930s Budapest that taught people how to smile.

Matthew is a Film and Media Studies writer and lecturer who has produced a wealth of material to aid teachers and students. He is the author of Teaching Men and Film which examines issues of masculinity in cinema.

Matthew is a regular contributor to MediaMagazine and other publications.

Matthew Daintrey-Hall regularly lectures and runs whole day events at the British Film Institute, both online and in person at the National Film Theatre, London.
